Thoughts on Starting A New Company and Hosting a Podcast

It’s been a while since I told you guys I was selling my first company, my dear love, Mrs. Vintage. The idea for Mrs. Vintage (an antique furniture rental company for those of you who are new to my blog) came to me in 2011 while I was planning my own wedding. At the time, I noticed a huge lack of wedding rentals in New Orleans with any sort of personality or nostalgia. For me, modern, white pleather sofas were just NOT going to make an appearance at my wedding. Like any entrepreneur, I saw a problem, and did everything within my power to fix it. In February of 2012 I launched the very first vintage furniture rental company in New Orleans to cater specifically to the wedding market! A few years later, my husband and I decided it was time to try and get home to California. Being away for four years made us really understand how important it is to be near family. So we started devising a plan to move home, and to …

Honored To Be Interviewed On ACE!

ACE (Adventures in Creative Entrepreneurship) is an awesome weekly interview podcast where host Kristy Oustalet asks creative entrepreneurs important questions to find out how they built the brands they did. This is such an amazing resource for anyone thinking of starting a business and small business owners alike. There are common threads between entrepreneurs, no matter the field, so hearing someone’s story and their trials and errors is always a huge help. If you have about 25 minutes, you should take a peek at my interview! ~Julia xox You can also just listen along on the audio only version here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/kristyoustalet/Mrs_Vintage_To_Libsyn.mp3

Fall Wedding Inspiration Shoot Featured on Green Wedding Shoes!

When planning shoots for publication, you always have to think ahead. The submittal and publishing process can take weeks and sometimes months, and often times bloggers are looking for season specific posts. That’s why I got together with Destiny of Poppy & Mint and Erika of Erika Parker Photography on a hot summer day to reenact a Fall wedding scene. Our models (in a full length gown and suit) we’re such good sports, and ended up looking amazing despite the heat. Here are a few of my favorites, including some that didn’t make it to publication. See the Green Wedding Shoes post here. Enjoy! ~Julia xox Shannon Kirsten was responsible for all the incredible paper goods and signs. She hand paints each one!

A Race & Religious Storybook Wedding

Like most people, I fell in love with Race & Religious the moment I laid eyes on it. The eclectic furniture and decor, the crumbly exterior walls, the secret interior rooms, the gas lanterns and balconies, it’s almost surreal in it’s epicness. And like most great first loves, your first time is unforgettable. This was my very first wedding at R&R, and of course, it turned out to be one for the record books. Styling and design by my good friend Tricia of P.S. Creative, AMAZING florals (maybe my favorite bouquet ever) by Kim Starr Wise, and fairytale photos by Amy Carroll Photography. To top it all off, this couple Carrie & Ben, are so sweet and were truly a dream to work with. To see the full list of vendors and many more pics, check out the feature on Style Me Pretty!! Enjoy! ~Julia xox Perfect patina. This flower girl just melts my heart! Can’t go wrong with a three piece suit and bowtie! I don’t know if it’s because her name is Carrie, …
