Salt House Inn

Rob and I had the pleasure of staying at the Salt House Inn a few years back during a trip to Cape Cod, MA for a friend’s wedding. The Inn had just changed ownership and undergone a beautiful restoration. The new owners, David Bowd and Kevin O’Shea, bought the 15-room hotel in 2011 with the intent to change the bed and breakfast experience. You will not find any dusty decor or floral print wallpaper in this B&B, as the space is filled with carefully placed decor in elegant uncluttered rooms. I normally skip breakfast at B&Bs because rarely is it any good. That would have been a huge mistake at the Salt House Inn. The breakfast was one of the highlights of the trip. This spring, the couple will open two more stylish boutique inns. The first is called Eben House also located in …

The Hillside Schoolhouse Inn

What is it about old one-room schoolhouses!? We have one near our home in California, and I literally want to send my future kids there based on how adorable it looks. I know, I should probably look into the scholastic achievements of an institution and not base my child’s education on aesthetics, but since my children don’t exist yet, I’m allowed to dream. The clean design and architecture just remind me a simpler time. You can image my excitement when I read about a couple who left the corporate world to remodel a dilapidated schoolhouse in Barryville, New York and turn it into an INN! And what a beautiful job they did indeed. Take a peek, and if you’re ever in upstate NY you just must stay at the Hillside Schoolhose Inn. Not surprisingly, the couple also offers beautiful handmade furniture for sale. Shop their products right here!
