Today’s show features Betany Coffland, a real-life opera singer turned flower farmer and floral designer! Her story of attending Juilliard school of music – arguably the best music school in the the world- and then going on to become an opera singer and performer is captivating! We chat about her making the decision to move to Italy (I think this whole moving to Italy thing is becoming a theme around here!) and then eventually settling in the Bay Area to pursue a new love: flower farming. Betany took her knowledge of farming and applied it to organic and farm fresh flower arranging, started a CSA and created a really interesting business along the way.
We talk about the similarities in marketing yourself as an opera singer and as a florist- two careers that seemingly have nothing in common! Betany also explains what got her really interested in farm fresh flowers in the first place and the importance of buying from a farmer as opposed to a grocery store.
I hope you enjoy the show! If so, please feel free to share with a friend! ~Julia xox
