A Modern Farmhouse In Portland

I’m working on the design of TWO farmhouses right now, which is pretty much my dream come true. I always look to Pinterest for inspiration, and as I was scrolling through my “Rooms I’d Like To Reside In” board I came across these images I found last year in the NY Times. The space always stuck with me because it’s rustic and relaxed, yet filled with modern furniture and fixtures. This home belongs to Brian and Jill Faherty, owners of my favorite lighting brand, Schoolhouse Electric, so it’s no wonder I love it so much.

I find so much inspiration from these images, so I thought I would share with you! Hope you enjoy as much as I do.

  1. Hello, My name is Jeff Lightbody, I own Epitome Home and Garden and a Landscape business in Boise.
My partner and I have wanted to relocate to Portland for years, and now with employment changes have arrived at a way>
I’m not sure what all you do exactly but our styles are quite similar and I am hoping you could guide me to
either architects, builders, or a savvy realtor that could help us get started looking for a lot, Modern Farmhouse home plans, and begin the process of getting there.
Thanks so much for whatever you may be able to offer.

    • Hi Jeff,

Unfortunately, I can’t be much help. I live in California, I just wrote about this house on my blog. I do love the book Prefabulous, you should check it out if you are building. Here is one of my favorite farmhouses, and it’s prefab! Meaning it’s all built in a factory controlled environment, for a lower cost and lower waste than traditionally built homes. Here is a link: http://connorbuilding.com/project.php?projectid=5 . Best of luck!

Well thank you for the response. The Prefab is great-but waaaaay larger than we need/desire. I’ll check into other floor plans! Appreciate your thoughts, Jeff
