Rob and I had the pleasure of staying at the Salt House Inn a few years back during a trip to Cape Cod, MA for a friend’s wedding. The Inn had just changed ownership and undergone a beautiful restoration. The new owners, David Bowd and Kevin O’Shea, bought the 15-room hotel in 2011 with the intent to change the bed and breakfast experience. You will not find any dusty decor or floral print wallpaper in this B&B, as the space is filled with carefully placed decor in elegant uncluttered rooms. I normally skip breakfast at B&Bs because rarely is it any good. That would have been a huge mistake at the Salt House Inn. The breakfast was one of the highlights of the trip. Each morning the couple prepares a fine selection of sweet and savory dishes which guests can enjoy in the cozy dining room, or at one of the many outdoor patio tables.
This spring, the couple will open two more stylish boutique inns. The first is called Eben House also located in Provincetown, MA and the other is called The Chequit located in Shelter Island Heights, NY. It’s no wonder that these two continue to grow their successful boutique hotel brand. David has a background in fine hotel management and Kevin a degree in interior architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. They are like a boutique hotel dream team.
