Mrs. Vintage is one today! I can’t believe how time flies. One year ago today, I opened up shop (at that time from my living room) and started doing something no one else in New Orleans was doing at the time: providing quality, unique vintage furniture and accessories for hire, specifically marketed to the wedding industry. Fast forward one year and our little company has some very big accomplishments to be proud of. Some of which include being published on Style Me Pretty, 100 Layer Cake, Bride Rush, Rock N Roll Bride, and TLC (yet to air, but stay tuned!). We have also expanded our services to include event design and production, creative direction, photoshoot styling & of course vintage rentals. I am thrilled at where this amazing (and risky!) endeavor has taken me and look forward to the exciting changes coming to Mrs. Vintage in the very near future!
But enough about me, let’s give you some birthday presents! That’s how this works right? Right. Today is the very first day of two weeks of giveaways as a thank you from the bottom of my vintage heart for all the support you’ve shown me over the past year.
First up, the AMAZING hand-woven turkish towels, bath mat and soap form Loomed NOLA valued at $350.00! I know, I wanted to start with a BANG! Loomed NOLA was started by the very adventurous couple Paul & Molly, who quit corporate life (I can relate!) and moved to Turkey for the experience of a lifetime. Looking for gifts to bring back to New Orleans, they discovered these incredibly soft, durable, handmade textiles, woven using ancient practices. Best of all Loomed NOLA has just opened up shop in The Rink: 2727 Prytania St. at Washington so even if you don’t win, you can buy up all the turkish towels your little heart desires. From Paul:
We work with the last nine families of weavers in Turkey who still do things the old fashioned way – completely by hand on old-style shuttled looms. Our cotton is certified organic by the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), which is the EU’s equivalent to the USDA. We also have pieces in linen and silk that we can wholly say are organic, though they are not certified as such because the small families who work in these materials cannot afford the certification. With our partners in Turkey, we buy the cotton threads for all of our cotton pieces so we can control the quality. We then give the thread to the weavers, who work their magic and return to us beautiful finished product!
