Happy Mardi Gras!

Ok, I know, this post has nothing to do with weddings or vintage furniture, but it has everything to do with New Orleans, and I just don’t think I would be doing my duty as a NOLA blogger if I didn’t take a moment to tell y’all HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!

Today will mark the end of my third Mardi Gras celebration, boy how time flies. This Carnival season, with Super Bowl stuffed in between parade weekends, turned out to be pretty epic. The last three weeks (yes you read that correctly) have been filled with good friends, out-of-town guests, parades, beads, king cakes, costumes, laughter, late night dance parties, and general good hearted debauchery. Contrary to popular belief by non New Orleanians and those of us who haven’t experienced the greatest Carnival on earth, this season is not about boobs, beads & Bourbon Street. Not at all. It’s a fun, family-friendly, fully clothed (often times in tutus) event. It’s a time for ball gowns, carnival royalty, live music, great entertainment, crawfish boils, king cake, tiny plastic babies, staying out too late way too many nights in a row, and of course parades.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the last weekend. Now I’m off to enjoy the last day of gluttony and over indulgence before life returns to normal tomorrow.

Mrs. Vintage BlogMy friend Parmita turned 30 on the Saturday before Mardi Gras. So naturally we threw her a Quinceanera x2 party. That’s her in the middle in her beautiful thrift store Quinceanera dress.
