My Big Day

wedding registry I.Q.- rough linen co.

I’ve been a lover of natural linen for years. It’s one of those fine fabrics that only gets better with age. A few years back I had a custom, upholstered linen headboard made for our bedroom. It’s square shaped, with polished nickel nail heads outlining the frame. It looks as beautiful and classic today as it did when it was first delivered. I also had custom euro sized pillows made, with a printed linen front, and natural unbleached linen back. Recently, my fiance and I were picking out paint colors for our new apartment, and I told him I’d like to paint everything the color of linen. I think it’s safe to say, I’m a BIG fan.

So, when I heard about Rough Linen Company, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was very intrigued. Owner, Tricia, draws inspiration from textiles found in her grandmother’s house in Scotland, as well as antique linens discovered in France. A very talented seamstress, she only uses the finest textiles and very precise cutting and sewing technique.

I think the thing I love MOST about Rough Linen is the fact that all of the sheets are flat. No bunched up corners, impossible to fold, and inevitably put on the wrong way first time around. The bottom sheet is flat, and is tucked neatly around the corners of the mattress.

I’ve registered for the entire bed, right down to the natural linen duvet cover! I can’t wait to see how it will all look together!

This is Tricia’s grandmother’s antique linen pillow slip. Still looks beautiful today.

Folded hospital corner. So classic.

If this doesn’t make you want to curl up and take a nap, I’m not sure what will.
