a destination wedding at the Hermann-Grima house

Last month I had the pleasure of working with Meredith Reed of Belle Soiree and Natalie, one incredibly creative bride, who put together a spectacular traveling circus themed wedding (think Water for Elephants!). Although there were a few bumps along the way (2 photographers cancelled last-minute and almost all of the bride’s shipped-in decor arrived broken) Meredith pulled everything together like a seasoned pro and the wedding went off without a hitch. The reception took place at the Hermann-Grima House, a 19th century mansion built in the heart of the French Quarter in 1831. Though just steps from the obnoxious drunks on Bourbon Street, the interior courtyard is peaceful and serene, dripping with traditional New Orleans charm. Red brick walls and dark blue shutters enclose the delightful citrus trees and antique rose garden. Large rounded doorways on the north side of the courtyard allow you to peer into the only functional outdoor kitchen in the French Quarter.
